"Judgement Day" by James Weldon Johnson

For today’s “#BlackisEternal” installment, I dusted off a piece I learned to recite at 7 years old. To those of you who’ve never seen me in this light or known why I was an international forensics champion in dramatic interpretation (2010, Berlin)— here’s a taste.

As we continue to celebrate #BlackHistoryMonth, by highlighting literary pieces written by iconic Black writers, join us in enjoying, commenting, and sharing as we bring a new recitation to you every single day.

Today’s piece: “The Judgement Day” (1927) by James Weldon Johnson (who penned the Negro National Anthem). Performed by Vincent Powell.

We’re so glad you’re being blessed and sharing #BlackIsEternal. The feedback is humbling and overwhelming.
