"Let America Be America again" by Langston Hughes

“America never was ‘America’ to me.” 86 years ago #LangtonHughes knew this. Still it rings true. The “idea” of America surpasses her actual ability to rise to the occassion by lightyears. That “America” doesn’t exist for Black people, yet #BlackIsEternal.

Today’s piece: “Let America Be America Again” (1935) by Langston Hughes. Performed by @kriscoadams and #KelvinDouglas.

We’re celebrating #BlackHistoryMonth and everyday we’re highlighting literary pieces written by iconic Black writers. Black Is Eternal is proudly sponsored by @historygroomingco.
