"The Lynching" by Claude McKay

We’re still at it y’all!! It’s still #BlackHistoryMonth! And still, #BlackIsEternal.

For nearly as long as Black people have been in America, lynching has been as well. Introduced as a form of capital punishment for slaves and sympathizers, after the end of slavery it became a jovial and communal way of killing Blacks and making examples to the wider communities. Horrific at every turn.

Today’s piece: “The Lynching” (1922) by Claude McKay. Performed by @chimdi01. “All of My Burdens” by @kerrinton_.

Everyday we’re highlighting literary pieces written by iconic Black writers.

#BlackIsEternal is proudly sponsored by @historygroomingco.

We’re so glad you’re being blessed and sharing #BlackIsEternal. The feedback is humbling and overwhelming.
